What We Do: The Art of Movement

At Afroempire Dance Studio, we don’t just teach you how to “copy steps.” We believe that dance is a language, and we give you the tools to speak it fluently. Our curriculum is designed for everyone—from absolute beginners looking for a fun hobby to aspiring professionals seeking a career in the arts.

The Afroempire Method: A Conceptual Approach

We teach modern dance through a unique, concept-based perspective. Rather than focusing solely on repetition, we break movement down into its most fundamental building blocks. This allows our students to understand how and why their bodies move.

Our teaching is centered around the Six Core Elements of Movement:

  • Space: Understanding how to use the stage and the environment around you.
  • Time: Mastering rhythm, tempo, and the speed of your movements.
  • Body: Developing awareness of your physical form and its capabilities.
  • Efforts: Learning how to control the energy and “weight” behind every move.
  • Movement: Exploring the transition from stillness to action.
  • Form: Focusing on the shapes and structures your body creates.
